2009 Season is Underway!
Greg Capitolo, Rick Williams

Dear Central Marin Families,
It is wonderful to have the beginning of the season upon us. We enjoy so much watching and cheering the boys and girls on the field. Hopefully, your team's schedule is coming together. I know there were many, many hiccups with the transition to US Club and NorCal, as well as a lot of games to schedule. Thank you to all the team managers, and especially, Colleen and Lynetta (our NorCal and Field/Referee Coordinators), for working diligently to resolve all scheduling issues and for continuing to work with the Team Managers to make sure all games are played.

This year, we are going to make a sincere effort to meet all of you. We believe it is important that we make a personal connection to the families that support our Club. We would like to hear your questions and concerns and discuss the Club with each of you. Each of us have attended several games and met many of you. If you see us introducing ourselves along the sidelines, please say hello. This is a great opportunity for us to cheer for you sons and daughters and listen to your concerns.

Our Club is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who, as Team Managers, Board Members and Fund Raisers, devote a significant amount of their personal time to our Club, for the benefit of the players. However, we need significantly more volunteer support. Other than player development, we have two priorities this year: 1) Communication and 2) Fund Raising. With communication, we are doing as much as we can to improve and upgrade our website, thanks to Jeff Archer, so that we can let you know what is happening within our Club. With fund raising, we would like to generate funds to provide better administrative support, including communication, as well as, financially support families in our Club/Community.

Throughout the year, we will be doing our best to communicate our Club activities, issues and needs as well as looking for your input as to what you would like to see with our Club. Most importantly, we will be looking to add to our team of volunteer parents. It is through their efforts that we can improve our Club.

Best for the season,
Rick and Greg - Co-Presidents Central Marin Soccer Club

Having made it through the first month of league games and state cup/tournament games, our teams and kids are playing hard and developing. Already teams are showing vast improvement from the pre- and early season games of August and September. Some highlights were the U10 Boys and Girls gold teams winning the Sonoma and Novato Classic tournaments, our strong showing in the Mission Bell tournament, and several other teams competing in the finals, semi-finals and consolation games in many of the tournaments our club has entered.

Also I want to mention that the goal keeper training was a huge success, we had a strong and consistent showing of kids for each of the trainings.

Finally, a big "Thank you!" to the parents and managers for navigating through our first season of Fall league play format run by NorCal Premier.

Volunteer hours

As you may have been informed from your team managers, your team will get a kick-back from the league of some registration money that was withheld in order to provide an incentive for parents to volunteer on behalf of their teams to do some tasks/work for the club. The league is in need of some additional volunteers on the board and also for specific duties that come up over the course of the year. The board is in the process of defining these duties, but currently we have the following immediate needs:

- We have some content that we need to format and organize for a league wide newsletter.
- We are also looking for someone to send oout some emails to managers and team to get photos updated on the website. These efforts would require a minimum of 10-15 hours and would satisfy your volunteer effort. Please contact Colleen Bertiglia
- We are looking for someone (or a team of 2-3 people perhaps) to coordinate the upcoming 2010 league tryouts in February. Planning work that is done now will count towards this year, work during the tryouts will count toward next year. Again, contact Colleen Bertiglia
